Mangalore

Well short weekend. Bastard office escape. Way to go. But something was missing. Or someone was missing. Or missing someone :P whatever.

Nothing much on the road. Usual stuff. Trying not to drink much water. Why am I even writing this. Nothing is funny. Or new. Bad road. Impatient wait to hit the beach. The hotel. The pamperings. The food. More later. Till then tweet the fuck off

You hit NH48 and drive across the western ghats. The roads are wavering enough to make you feel like a snake. If you have such problems, keep a throw up bag.

Reached at 5:30 in the morn, hunt for a hotel wasn't much of a hassle. Wikitravel was quite informative. It was end of feb The nights are cold enough for atlest a winter jacket. The days are hot enough to make you want to roam around nude. Yes you may get a sun tan.

Hotel prestige. Its nice from the outside. Inside also. Standard rooms are just the right choice. Clean and the staff was good. Atleast they considered changing our room and shifting it closer to our friends'. Attached restaurants. Two of them with complimentary breakfast. It didn't seem to have a parking lot as our car had to be parked outside in the sun and had enough space for only two vehicles. The lift was dumb.

The lazy lot that we were spend half the day at the hotel. Thanks to the journey and nightout the previous night. Anyway after rounds of kicking and stamping eachother, we ventured out for the much anticipated forage of the day

Nice retro looking colonial style sea food rest

800 ph. Nice waiters. They don't have AC though it was still cool. Being software engineers from bangalore we are not really a fond lot about AC

Food was between good and awesome. Fish being the foremost priority, we were jolly not disappointed

Pomfret tawa fry. Awesome

Prawn masala. Good

Chicken biriyani. Good. Raitha was pathetic

Steamed rice was just how it should be on basmati chawal

Again pomfret curry was good though a little marred the taste after the preceding masala delicacies.

Ended with a chocolate mousse (superb) and chocolate cake (ok type)

Head to beach hopping. Not all beaches are good wrt crowd and activities

Dakshin hotel didn't look good. Too smoky complicated and dark for families

Deja Vu family restaurant

Had this old mehfil type look from those rekha movies. You get to hear the most obscure genre of old bollywood and punjabi numbers you would never have heard in a. Lifetime. Kudiye taenu love kyun ho gaya types

But then don't judge a book by the cover. It serves food that makes you wanna go and kiss the cook. We tried to do exactly that but they stopped us

Shameless creatures that we were there was still some space for some mousse and tiramisu

The food had the power to make you forget that any music was playing

The waiter was a little fatherly type. We ate out of respect and coudnt order booze :P

Taj mahal hotel. Pure veg

Nice waiter. Sagar type. Old hotel. Everybody know. Special type of coffe which they don't reveal the recipe of. Not that anybody asks. Though it didn't taste that exceptional. May be that's the reason. Occupational hazard

Round and smooth rocks

Conjoined slabs of rocks jutting out of the sand cradling fresh water at places

Very calm shore. You can even sit on the rock beds with waves caressing the feet without wetting the rest of you

They sell juices and light snacks at makeshift stalls

Tiled shades to cool yourself down

Too many bushes around for a quick smooch or urgent pee or even poopoo

You can go for a long walk all around the island if the sun permits and you have plenty of time of around an hour and a half.
